When I first came to Nepal, I was immediately captivated by its beauty: the different people groups with their different cultures and traditions, breathtaking mountains, rice terraces, village life. I loved exploring Kathmandu but had a hard time to get used to the amount of people in the streets, the strong smells, all the noise and the barking streetdogs. Going on the Gosainkunda trek was a challenge. My first real hike. Coming from a flat sea level area I got altitude sickness but my guide and team helped me through this. I am proud of myself for making it and looking back I have to say that it was worth all the pain (I felt every muscle in my body and had blisters all over my feet because my shoes were too small). During the trek I got to know every team member very well. We spend hours talking to each other while hiking or in the evenings around a fire. I loved that. Nepal is definitely worth coming! I have never experienced a country like this!
